Abstract

The rapid physical growth of Semarang City also boost the activity of transportation. The increase of transportation activity can be seen from the increase of vehicle per year. This is not offset by the increase in road length which result in the increase of traffic jam potential. According to the Ministry of City Transportation, the avarage road level of service is at C which is below he standard quality. As an attempt to resolve the problem of transportation, the government of Semarang City preparing a mass transportation service in form of BRT. The goal of this study is to analysis possible impact of traffic from the operation of BRT Trans Semarang in Corridor IV Cangkiran - Semarang Tawang. The method of analysis used in this study is quantitative descriptive. Primary data in the form of vehicle volume is done by traffic counting while the secondary data is collected from Ministry of Transportation, previous studies, and internet. Based on the analysis, it is indicated that Trans Semarang have significant influence on the traffic. It is indicated that the road performance on two bus stop which is Jrakah Market and Semarang District court is reduced while there is an increase of performance on the other five bus stop. From the seven bus stop investigated, only three bus stop successful in attempt to reduce the traffic jam by reducing the degree of saturation to below 0.75.The three bus stop in question are Cangkiran Terminal, Gas Station Semarang New Hill, and Tawang Station. When Trans Semarang operate at the start of the year, there is an increase in road performance. However the traffic load keep increasing every year because of the increase in private vehicle and the resident reluctant to switch to BRT. The result of study are recommendation to handle traffic in the form of building a private lane in arterial road, widen the road, build small lane on bus stop to reduce side friction,  and sanction for those who park in beside the road.

Abstract

Industrial development is always offset by an increase in quality of life. Development from the industrial sector that is not controlled can affect the increase in environmental pollution. Research to assess the suitability of industrial location and levels of industrial pollution on case studies in Sayung Subdistrict, Demak was conducted. This study used quantitative approach method. Analytical technique were performed by identification and weighting. Spatial analysis was conducted with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and analysis of public perceptions was presented using a quantitative description. The analysis wase the identification of Sayung district condition, land suitability of industrial location and the level of industrial pollution. The results of the analysis showed that the location with " very appropriate"  category was 3,65 km2 (17,29%), the location with "appropriate" category was 8,93 km2 (42,33%) and the location that was "not suitable" covered 8,52 km2 (40,37%). Industrial pollution level was up to 900 meters. Industrial development increased year by year that needs monitoring, so that development remains at the direction of the spatial patterns and minimalize negative impacts for society.

Abstract

Tingkir Lor Village Convection is one of the industries in Tingkir Kota Salatiga. This convection industries has been established since 1980 and still operated until now. The beginning of the convection industries in Tingkir Lor village are inseparable from the Damatex Factory's role in that year to provide wasted raw materials for free to the Tingkir Lor Village’s resident. But over time, the needs of raw materials increase and require various materials that can not be fulfilled by the convection industries in the goods and services sector. The requirements of these needs will make a connection with other areas to fulfilled these needs. The needs are including the flow of goods and services in the form of raw materials, supplementary raw materials, labor and marketing of convection products. The data analysis is based on three aspects in flow pattern of convection industries, such as input, process, and output. Data analysis used in this research is quantitative descriptive analysis that obtained from questionnaires, interviews and documentations by examining the flow patterns of goods and services within the convection industries. The results of data assessment shows that convection industries in Tingkir Lor village have two patterns of goods and services flow that is input and output aspect. The input and output aspects is the origin, destination and intensity that occur in the convection industries related to the external territory. The distribution of raw material in the Tingkir Lor village’s convection industries originally comes from Solo, Salatiga, Semarang and Ungara. As for the distribution of labor is dominated from the internal area of the convection industries. The production process in Tingkir Lor village’s convection industries still occurs in the internal area, causing no flow patterns that can be connected and formed. Convection products in Tingkir Lor Village are dominated by products such as pants, bed sheets, bed cover and clothing with a sale price ranged between Rp 5.000 up to Rp 300.000 depends on the products sold from each of the convection industries. Sales of convection industries in Tingkir Lor village have reached some regions in Indonesia such as Salatiga, Solo, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Pekalongan, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Bali and Papua.

Abstract

The development of urban space can be seen from how space was used and some characteristics of community behaviour. One of the factors influences the development of space is urbanization. One of the impacts of urbanization is an increase in energy consumption which is also reflected in Central Java Province with moderate to high urbanization levels, experienced an increase in energy consumption from 2011-2014. Tegal City experienced the urbanization as reflected by some characteristics of society behaviour such as modern lifestyle, land use, and socio-economic characteristics which is enable to increasing energy consumption. The limited of energy source followed by high energy consumption, attracting much attention to seek the fulfilment of energy needs. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship of household energy consumption between characteristics of community behaviour in Tegal City. In this study, the characteristics of community behaviour are assessed from several variables such as community behaviour related to urbanization, land use, travel behaviour and socio-economic aspects. While energy consumption is defined as the unit of BTU (British Thermal Unit) for every need of electricity and fuel (gasoline) supporting the movement of members in the household. The analysis used is multiple linear regression analysis with characteristics of community behaviour as independent variable and energy consumption as the dependent variable. The results showed that the consumption of electrical energy is influenced by the intensity of the use of washing machines and the intensity of the use of air conditioning. Both variables are variables of urbanization aspect. While the consumption of fuel energy (gasoline) is influenced by the number of motorized travel which is a variable of the aspects of travel behaviour and is influenced by the number of private motor vehicles that are variables of socio-economic aspects.

Abstract

Coastal area is one area that is prone to the hazard. Coastal areas are vulnerable to environmental changes either due to natural processes or human activities. In carrying out various activities, humans make changes to the environment and natural resources that will affect the environment in coastal areas. Utilization of less ecological principles can reduce the quality of the environment so that it continues with the occurrence of damage to the coastal ecosystems. Abrasion or coastal erosion is considered as hazard to coastal development. The impact of coastal erosion in Semarang city such as mangrove damage, land cover which turn into the sea, and decreased of pond, which would certainly will impact on the economy of coastal communities.Community mitigation efforts in anticipating coastal erosion hazard have been done both with physical development and non-physical efforts in the coastal areas by government and community. This study aims to examine the structural and non-structural forms of mitigation initiated by communities on the affected areas by coastal erosion in Semarang City and the factors that influence it. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis and logistic regression in the analysis process. Methods of data collection using observations and questionnaires with household observation unit. Observations were made to determine the forms of mitigation conducted by the community then logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the factors that influence the mitigation.Respondents are people in coastal areas affected by abrasion. The results show there are six forms of mitigation. There are four forms structural mitigation initiated by the community such as construction of seawall, setting-up bamboo spears, construction of breakwater, and mangrove planting. Then there are two forms of non-structural mitigation such as mangrove coastal ecotourism and empowerment of human resources and coastal area management. Based on the logistic regression analysis it is found that the factors which influence community to initiate mitigation are income level, education level, duration of living, and kinship relationship.
